By The Numbers: Texas Children’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

Texas Children’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine teams care for children across Houston at our seven clinic locations. We treat everything from minor fractures to complex disorders, ensuring the highest level of individualized care for pediatric patients from newborns to young adults.

Board-certified sports medicine doctors work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, a pediatric and musculoskeletal fellowship-trained radiologist, as well as with other Texas Children’s subspecialists at Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s West Campus. On average, we have 36,000 outpatient clinic visits and 10,000 fracture visits.

About Dr. John Dormans, chief of pediatric orthopedic surgery

I served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) from 1996 to 2014. I helped pioneer the work in the area of limb-sparing surgery for bone cancer and enjoy treating pediatric spinal deformities, specifically scoliosis, and promoting safety in such surgeries.
