About Dr. Paul Checchia, Medical Director - Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

I am a pediatric ICU specialist, primarily focused on cardiac critical care. I came to Texas Children's in the summer of 2011 to join the Heart Center team. I am also a professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Before coming to Houston in 2011, I served as Chief of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Service as well as Medical Co-director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

I have extensive experience with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in various clinical, research and academic settings. I have served as the principal investigator on multiple studies regarding RSV, have been published on the subject and frequently lecture on the topic at various medical conferences and academic institutions.
